Read the following passage carefully.
1. Emilia was a curious young woman with a passion for history and folklore. She spent countless hours delving into old manuscripts and exploring historical sites. So, when she heard about an abandoned library in a nearby village, rumoured to house books on ancient magic, she knew she had to explore it.

2. One chilly evening, Emilia gathered a group of her friends and set off for the deserted library. As they entered the dusty, dimly lit building, they felt a sense of foreboding. The creaking of the old wooden floors and the faint sound of whispering voices made them uneasy.

3. After wandering through the labyrinthine halls filled with cobweb-covered bookshelves, they stumbled upon a hidden room. This room was unlike the rest of the library, adorned with strange symbols and ancient artefacts. Emilia felt a shiver run down her spine as she sensed the room’s enigmatic energy. While they were examining an old, leather-bound book, they heard a loud thud from somewhere within the library. They froze, hearts pounding, unsure of what to expect.

4. They quickly hid behind a large, dusty desk as the thudding grew louder. The sound of dragging footsteps drew nearer until, finally, a shadowy figure appeared at the doorway. It was a tall man in a long coat, his face obscured by a wide-brimmed hat. Emilia and her friends held their breath as he slowly approached, whispering in a gravelly voice, “You do not belong here.”

5. Emilia and her friends were paralysed with terror, staring at the figure. Suddenly, the candles in the room flickered and extinguished, plunging them into darkness. When the lights came back on, the figure had vanished. They looked around, bewildered, realising the room was back to its original state. They had been so scared that they hadn’t noticed the flickering candles before.

6. Disheartened, they left the library, feeling as if their adventure had been in vain. They had hoped for a thrilling encounter with the supernatural, but instead, they had experienced a series of eerie but explainable events. As they walked back home, they couldn’t help but feel a bit foolish for letting their imaginations run wild. They had been so eager to find proof of ancient magic that they ignored the mundane explanations for the noises they had heard.

7. Emilia learned a valuable lesson that night. She realised that often, the most mysterious and exciting experiences are those created by our own minds. She understood that there was plenty of magic in the real world, waiting to be discovered without the need for ancient spells and hidden rooms.

It is not unknown to us that weddings in India have become extravagant in recent years. It is strange how Indians spend their life savings on their weddings. One of the main features of the lavish weddings is are various types of food one can find there.

Today, no wedding is complete without different cuisines offered to the guests. It is quite shocking that, on one hand, India is a host to one of the biggest armies of starving people in the world; on the other hand, we witness a large-scale wastage of food. Such wastage can be monitored if the size of the servings is limited. Moreover, the host should be responsible for giving caterers the exact number of expected guests. Further, the leftover food can be distributed to the poor in order to avoid wastage.

Julius Caesar was a great warrior and a just leader. He was proud of his achievements, but he was not arrogant or haughty. However, he was overconfident. He underestimated the power and potential of the conspirators as well as his wife’s intuition. He paid the price with the loss of his life.

(iii) In ‘Virtually True’, when did the first video game come to an end? (Virtually True)
Answer:

The postmaster understood Ali’s pain when he himself faced a similar situation that Ali had been facing for the past 5 years. The postmaster’s daughter was ill, and he had no news of her.
