If we are given two numbers, how can we say which one is greater of these two?
Rule 1. The number having more numbers of digits is the longer of the two.
Take the numbers 136 and 98. 136 has 3 digits, and 98 has 2 digits. So 136 > 98.
Rule 2. If two numbers have an equal number of digits, then
- Compare the digits on the extreme left. The number having the largest digit on the extreme left is greater.
- If the digits on the extreme left are the same, then compare the digits in the next place, and so on.
